With temperatures expected to hit 35° in some areas today, it seems that summer has finally started; the welcome return of sunshine and blue skies.
The prospect of hot sunny weather is enticing for most, but for those who work on or manage construction sites, it is potential hazard. High temperatures (defined as 24° and above) bring with them the dangers of suffering heat related illness for those exposed to the elements when working.
Keeping up fluid intake, taking regular breaks in shaded areas and wearing appropriate lightweight clothing (covering up not stripping off!) are just a few common sense measures which will help you stay safe when working outside in extremely hot and sunny weather.
