First Aid at Work

Course Aim

This 3 day course (eighteen hour contact time) is designed for anyone.

In the UK approximately 30,000 people sustain a cardiac arrest outside hospital and before the emergency medical services are able to attend, therefore if members of the public have more understanding of first aid, it is possible that more lives could be saved.

Location

The course can be conducted within your own premises, to a maximum of 10 delegates, or alternatively you could be added to one of our open courses run at a designated venue.  A suitable training area must be free from distractions and have an area for practicing activities.

Requirements for training

No previous experience is necessary.
Good understanding of spoken and written English. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area.
A valid form of ID, such as a copy of your passport or driving license.

Course Content

Day 1
Role and responsibilities of a First Aider
Incident and Casualty assessment
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Recovery Position including management of seizure
Choking, Basic Life Support and use of AED
External Bleeding and Hypovolaemic, Shock Minor Injuries, Secondary Survey

Day 2
Respiratory System, Hypoxia and Chest Injuries
Asthma and Hyperventilation
Circulatory System, wounds & Bleeding extras including nose bleeds and embedded objects
Eye injuries, Shock, Anaphylaxis, Angina & Hearth Attack, Stroke

Day 3
Skeletal System, Fracture & Dislocations, Sprains and Strains & Spinal Injuries, Burns & Scolds & Poisons
Head Injuries, Diabetes & Epilepsy

Course material

All courses include manuals, handouts/worksheets.

Certification

Delegates will be awarded a certificate of attendance from Qualsafe on successful completion of assessment, valid for 3 years.
