Lung Health and Workplace Dust Control

26th March 2026

March marks the HSE’s No Smoking Day — a timely reminder of the importance of protecting our lungs both inside and outside the workplace. While smoking remains a major health risk, workplace exposures such as dust, fumes, and airborne contaminants also play a significant role in long‑term respiratory disease.

Every year in the UK, thousands of workers develop illnesses linked to poor air quality at work. The good news: most cases are preventable with the right controls, equipment, and awareness.

This month, we’re highlighting the dust hazards, control measures, and the importance of masks and face‑fit testing to keep your workforce safe.

Additionally, in preparation for HSE’s Asbestos Awareness Week (1–7 April), we have included a previous edition of our newsletter for your reference.

Do get in touch should you need support with Face-Fit Testing or Asbestos Awareness Training.
